Job Description:

The MEP Manager is responsible for overseeing the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in high-rise commercial building projects, ensuring that all systems are designed, installed, and maintained to meet project requirements, safety standards, and industry regulations. The role requires an
experienced professional with deep technical expertise and the ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage contractors, and ensure the successful completion of projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Coordination:
    o Lead and manage the design, development, and implementation of MEP systems for high-rise commercial buildings.
    o Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and project managers to ensure MEP systems integrate seamlessly with other building components.
    o Develop MEP work schedules and ensure alignment with the overall project timeline.
  •  Design Review & Approval:
    o Review and approve MEP designs, ensuring compliance with local and international standards and regulations.
    o Provide technical input on system designs, materials selection, and energy efficiency solutions.
    o Ensure designs are cost-effective and meet the project’s sustainability goals.
  • Contractor Management:
    o Manage MEP subcontractors, including reviewing bids, contracts, and schedules.
    o Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and
    plumbing systems.
    o Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks to ensure the work meets specified standards and codes.
  • Budgeting & Cost Control:
    o Develop and manage the MEP budget, ensuring expenditures are in line with project forecasts.
    o Identify and mitigate potential cost overruns by implementing cost-saving measures.
    o Ensure the procurement of high-quality materials and equipment at the best possible cost.
  •  Safety & Compliance:
    o Ensure all MEP systems meet safety regulations, including fire safety, ventilation, and electrical safety standards.
    o Coordinate with government bodies and inspectors to obtain the necessary approvals and certifications for MEP systems.
    o Implement and oversee health and safety practices related to MEP work on-site.
  •  Problem-Solving & Risk Management:
    o Identify potential MEP-related risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    o Resolve on-site issues related to MEP systems, including coordination problems between different trades.
  •  Team Leadership & Development:
    o Lead and mentor the MEP team, providing technical guidance and support.
    o Ensure continuous improvement by introducing innovative technologies and best practices.
  •  Commissioning & Handover:
    o Oversee the testing and commissioning of MEP systems, ensuring they are fully operational and meet performance criteria.
    o Prepare documentation and manuals for the operation and maintenance of MEP systems.
    o Coordinate the final handover of MEP systems to the respective authorities.

Qualifications & Skills:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field.
  •  10-12 years of experience in MEP management, with a strong focus on high-rise commercial building projects.
  •  In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems design and installation.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and standards.
  •  Excellent project management and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM, and other relevant design and project management software.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
