Job Title – Planning Engineer
Role of the Planning Engineer is creating and managing project schedules, tracking progress, resource allocation and implementing effective monitoring systems to ensure adherence to schedules and milestones.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Planning Engineer to join our project team. The ideal candidate will have 4 to 5 years of experience in planning and scheduling, with a strong understanding of project management principles and tools. The Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules, ensuring effective coordination between different project phases, and assisting in timely project delivery within scope and budget.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project)
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to establish baseline schedules and define project milestones.
- Monitor and track project progress, identify delays, and propose solutions to ensure timely completion
2. Resource Management:
- Identify project resource requirements (manpower, equipment, materials) and ensure that resource allocation aligns with project schedules
- Collaborate with procurement and other departments to ensure timely availability of resources
3. Cost Control & Budget Management:
- Assist in the development of project budgets and cost estimates
- Monitor project expenditures and work closely with the project team to ensure cost control
- Provide regular cost reports, variance analysis, and suggest corrective measures for budget overruns
4. Risk Management:
- Conduct risk analysis for potential project delays and other issues
- Implement risk mitigation strategies and track contingency plans
5. Communication & Reporting:
- Prepare regular project status reports, including schedule updates, progress reports, and forecasts.
- Facilitate regular meetings with project teams to discuss progress, challenges, and potential solutions.
- Ensure timely communication of project milestones and progress to stakeholders.
6. Documentation & Compliance:
- Ensure proper documentation of planning processes, schedules, and project reports.
- Maintain compliance with internal project management protocols and industry standards.
Key Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 5 to 6 years of relevant experience in planning and scheduling in construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project, and other scheduling tools.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PMP), critical path method (CPM), and earned value management (EVM).
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, especially in handling project delays, resource allocation issues, and budget overruns.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively report on project progress and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple project schedules concurrently.
- Fully end-to-end project completion experience of at least 2 projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PSP, or similar).
- Experience in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with contract management and project controls.
